In the late nineteenth century, Bob's great grandfather came from England on a ship under the helm of Captain Lorry, as an indentured servant. He worked in Nova Scotia, repaying the Captain, until he was able to go on his own. He and his oldest son purchased adjoining farms in Stewieke, Nova Scotia. Descendants still live on the son's original property.

Eventually, Bob's grandfather moved to the States, and settled in Easton, Massachusetts. He started a dairy farm and became one of the many local farmers in the area that would deliver milk to the local homes. Bob's father worked on the home farm and also at the Rankin farm, an Easton poultry farm, that developed the method of using artificial incubation in the United States. Taking this knowledge, Bob's father eventually developed his own chicken business, selling baby chicks to farmers all over New England. It became a very thriving business, until the emergence of the "large integrated farmer" made it's inroads on the small poultry farmer.

As the years passed, Bob's love for his grandfather's livelihood, drew him to purchasing his first calf, from there it was 4-H fairs and eventually the rebirth of a small herd of milking cows. Bob and Julie milked the cows and botled the milk for local consumption, with Laurie and Hiram becoming part of the family venture. Soon Laurie had her Jersey cow, then sheep, while Hiram had a chicken business, selling the eggs to the neighborhood. Both becoming active in the 4-H.

Andrews Bakery

Andrews Farm Bakery and Cafe evolved from these begins, with a few cookies being sold with the milk. Eventually, the demand for the baked goods, unable to purchase the farm land due to the rising costs of the real estate, along with both ventures demanding an eight day week, 15 hrs a day, choices had to be made.

So today, using many fresh farm products, we are committed to producing the freshest and finest bakery products. We also make homemade sandwiches "like the ones found back on the farm". Over the past five years, we have made a commitment to roasting the finest and freshest specialty coffees available. We invite you to be our guest and imbibe!!
